HISTORY OF COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION 

            College of Business Education comprises of four programs which are Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,  Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.

            The first non-degree programs that was granted Government recognition was the Executive Computer Secretarial Course (ECSC) with CHED Government recognition No. 088, S. 1992 on June 1, 1992.

            The other degree programs offered thereafter from 1992 to present ; Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) in 1998, Bachelor of Science in  Office Administration (BSOA) in 1999;

            On December 3, 2001, CHED approved the request  of  PLT College, Inc. to expand the Bachelor of Science in Commerce by including BS in Commerce major in Management, Marketing and Banking & Finance effective SY 2002-2003 by Dr. Liduvina C. Director IV, RO2.

            Then there was CHED Memo Order No. 39 , S. 2006  under Section 3, instructing HEIs offering BS in Commerce to adopt  Bachelor o f Science in Business Administration.

            In SY 2010-2011the Board of Trustees with the endorsement of the President approved the recommendation to offer Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.  It was given government recognition in 2013.

            In the same year the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and  Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology were given Levels I and II permit to operate in the same year.

            In pursuit of PLT’s mission of professional competence, the Business Administration and Office Administration were accorded Level 1 Accreditation  by PACUCOA.

 

            The College of Business  Education is responding  to the Commission on Higher Education’s initiatives on outcomes-based education and in harmonizing competencies with global standards in specialized courses to keep pace with the demands of local and international business environments to become even more globally competitive.

 

            Its linkages is diversified—from local firms and government instrumentalities to Securities and Exchange Commission in Manila and trainees have received remarkable evaluation from

these Host Training Establishments.      

 

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION

PHILOSOPHY

           Business has been identified to play a vital role in the development of our economy. The College of Business Education then, is bounded to mold its students to become enterprising individuals and become instruments in the progress and development of our community.

GOALS

            The faculty of the College of Business Education is responsible in catering to the needs of its students as changes in the business environment happen. The college wills to become a center of excellence in terms of educating its students on becoming self-sufficient entrepreneurs, research and development experts, and world-class managers and financial analysts.

 

             The PLT College of Business Education is aligned to lead and develop its students to be responsible, enterprising individuals who will become entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development and suitable communities. The College will provide its students opportunities to master competencies related to core entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and attitudes, including creativity and critical thinking.

 

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

In general, upon completion of a four-year degree in business and management, the PLTC graduate should be able to:

 

  1. Apply effectively and efficiently the basic concepts, processes, techniques and tools of  the basic functions of management (such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, leading and controlling) functional areas of business (strategic management, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources management,  production and operations management, information and communication technology)  appropriate to a specific type of business and organization.

 

2. Effectively and efficiently apply the proper decision tools to critically, analytically, and creatively solve problems and drive results in one’s daily activities and/or in a business organization;

3. Conduct relevant scientific research to discover knowledge in business management and utilize the results to improve business education and practice;

4. Communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing with different players and stakeholders in business environment;

5. Demonstrate productive ability either independently or as part of a team, lead groups and work harmoniously with others as part of a team; and

6. Practice social responsibility , corporate citizenship, high personal moral and ethical standards in business activities and pride in being a Filipino and a God-centered business professional, leader and practitioner.

 

            In addition to the general attribute of a business administration graduate, upon completion of the 4-year  BS in Business Administration Program,

the PLTCI graduates should be able to:

 

1. Keep abreast with the continuously growing knowledge and increasingly improving practice of business and commerce and use these to accelerate business development;

2. Identify and analyze the internal and external factors that constantly affect the business  environment and apply basic business and management  concepts, processes, techniques and tools to improve business productivity ;

3. Apply basic accounting knowledge and skills, appropriate information and communication technology in managing one’s day-to-day personal and business life activities;

4. Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills, self-reliance, sustainability; and

5. Generate employment through business entrepreneurship

Common to the discipline (Business and Management) as suggested by CHED

 

A graduate of a business or management degree should be able to:

 

  1. Implement  the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, leading and controlling

Upon completion of the 4-year  BS in Business Administration Program, the PLTCI graduates should be able to:

  1. Identify the factors that affect the business environment
  2. Make use of accounting principles from day to day
  3. Conduct research and apply scientific methods or tools to one’s daily activities and utilize results of research relevant  to business
  4. Analyze the socio-economic factors that constantly affect the business environment
  5. Communicate effectively with different players of the business environment
  6. Demonstrate ethical values in business activities
  7. Apply business and management concepts and processes as needed
  8. Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team
  9. Practice the knowledge of the legal aspects of business and entrepreneurship
  10. Keep abreast of the trends in doing business and get more up to date information on the society as a whole and further his/her career for personal and professional development
  11. Generate employment  by engaging in business
  12. Demonstrate social responsibility and pride in being a Filipino and God -centered  business professional

 

Upon completion of the 4-year  BS in Office Administration Program, the PLTCI graduates should be able to:

  1. Handle effectively and efficiently  various office procedures as future secretaries and entrepreneurs
  2. Operate or manipulate office machines effectively.
  3. Practice good  working habits especially in using tools and equipment  and self-organization techniques in the office
  4. Perform office tasks that will aid them to achieve greater success as skilled office workers
  5. Practice leadership skills and exercise good judgment in readily meeting the challenging and fast changing office works
  6. Communicate effectively and efficiently to different players in an office environment
  7. Apply concepts, principles and theories of office management learned inside the classroom to actual practice or in assigned tasks.
  8. Perform new and innovative things toward the improvement of a person, of present methods or add change to existing knowledge.
  9. Handle paperwork  proficiently, using appropriate illustrative material to support and extend the written word, completes forms, and  write letters/ memos and reports
  10. Perform job with accuracy, completeness, orderliness, neatness and able to prioritize them.
  11. Demonstrate ethical values in office activities
  12. Conduct research and apply scientific methods or tools to one’s daily activities and utilize results of research relevant  to office practice

Upon completion of the 4-year  BS in Accountancy Program, the PLTCI graduates should be able to:

 

  1. demonstrate the necessary knowledge, understanding, attitude and skills required to successfully pass the CPA licensure examination.
  2. show intellectual skills such as abstract logical thinking and learn the process of critical and creative thinking (the generation of new ideas); visualization (seeing things in the mind’s eye); and reasoning skills (the discovery of a rule or principle) underlying the relationship between two or more objects in solving situations.
  3. apply interpersonal skills required of an accountant working in groups and as a team player; persuasiveness; confidence and diplomacy, discreetness, open-mildness and patience, hard work and ability to respond well to pressure.
  4. demonstrate effective communication skills in listening, speaking and writing at all organizational levels specifically in justifying one’s position, delivering impressive presentation and to persuading and convincing others
  5. exhibit high level of performance in meeting public interest in accordance with the highest ethical standards of professionalism integrity, objectivity and independence, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behavior
  6. Demonstrate social responsibility and pride in being a Filipino and God -centered  office  professional
  7. Conduct research and apply scientific methods or tools to one’s daily activities and utilize results of research relevant  to business

 

Upon completion of the 4-year  BS in Entrepreneurship Program, the PLTCI graduates should be able to:

 

  1. Conduct a self-assessment identifying personal entrepreneurial traits and competencies.
  2. Scan the environment to identify business opportunities
  3. Identify possible entrepreneurial venture and develop their respective profiles.
  4. Select the project to be developed into a business and prepare a business Plan.
  5. Prepare and comply with requirements for business start up.

         Guided by the principles of leadership, relevance, ethics, community involvement and professional growth. The College of Business and Office Administrations of PLT College  is  aligned to lead and develop its students to be responsible, enterprising individuals who will become entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to global economic development and suitable communities.

 

        The College of Business and Office Administration has consistently  provided its students opportunities to master competencies related to core entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and attitudes, including; creativity and critical thinking.

  1. The academic achievers of College of Business Education are several of those who constantly dominated the Honor Rolls every recognition program. 

 

  1. The students of the College of Business Education have conducted quality researches which helped them respond to issues, concerns and problems related to the dynamic world of business.  For the past 3 years, CBE students bagged the most coveted,  “Likha Award” for their group researches.

 

  1. The practical implications of having to stretch out to people in the community as part of the involvement of the educational institutions as well as the widening need to be socially responsible, the College of Business Education  in its response to this had embarked into an extension service to the constituents of Barangay Salvacion and Barangay Magsaysay to emphasize the importance and necessity of entrepreneurship towards a better life, to eradicate poverty through entrepreneurship by conducting series of seminars on  starting a business, marketing strategies,  product promotion, product management and  how to handle finance. 

 

The extension activity, “Dishwashing and Fabric Softener Making”, introduced by the CBE students  to a group of housewives in Barangay Salvacion and Barangay Magsaysay had stirred the entrepreneurial spirit of these women to  work together and continue what the College had started.  Now the legacy of CBE to these barangays will continue.

 

  1. To attain professional growth and competence, students are given the opportunity to widen their horizon by affiliating with national organizations like Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA), Junior Confederation of Finance Associations, Philippines (JCFAP) and Philippine Association of Students in Office Administration (PASOA).

 

 

 

  1.  In the 11TH run of the Capital Markets’ Investment Teaching Accreditation Program  (CMITAP) on May 23-27, 2016, two CBE Faculty underwent  the five-day live-in seminar workshop at the Achiever’s Core Training Center, Dasmarinas, Cavite.  After a rigorous training and having hurdled the final written examination, Mrs. Editha G. Martin and Mrs. Felicidad V. Divina were conferred the title CERTIFIED MARKET INVESTMENT TEACHING ACCREDITED PROFESSIONAL (CMITAP) which they can use as post nominal “CMITAP” on their name.
